Foreign Minister applauds outcomes of AU-CARICOM Summit, praises renewed support for peoples' right to self-determination and liberation

Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), September 08, 2025 (SPS) - The Sahrawi Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Yeslem Beissat, commended the outcomes of the summit between the African Union and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), held on Sunday in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

He emphasized that the decisions issued from the summit reaffirmed a strong commitment to the right of peoples to self-determination and the completion of the liberation process, as well as the eradication of all forms of colonialism.

In a statement to the Sahrawi Press Agency (SPS) and national media, the Sahrawi Minister expressed his deep appreciation, on behalf of the participating Sahrawi delegation, to the African Union and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia for the excellent organization of the summit and the warm hospitality.

He stressed that the Sahrawi Republic will continue its efforts to support the causes of the continent and assist its peoples in achieving their legitimate aspirations, thereby enhancing Africa's international standing.

The Foreign Minister highlighted the bilateral meetings held by the Sahrawi delegation with African and Caribbean heads of state and ministers.

These meetings discussed prospects for enhancing joint cooperation and coordinating positions on issues of mutual interest.
