
Basque Region (Spain), June 24, 2025 (SPS) – Mr. Mohamed Salem Hamma, the official in charge of Foreign Relations, Cooperation, Media, and Diaspora Affairs at the General Union of Workers of Saguia el-Hamra and Rio de Oro (UGTSARIO), held Tuesday a meeting with representatives of the Basque trade union ELA.
The meeting served as an opportunity to discuss a joint action plan, key milestones, and future prospects. Mr. Hama provided an update on the latest developments in the national cause, as well as the outcomes and objectives adopted at the 10th Congress of the UGTSARIO. He emphasized the need to intensify efforts in trade union solidarity with the Sahrawi people’s struggle and their just cause.
Discussions also focused on the situation of Sahrawi political prisoners held in Moroccan occupation jails, stressing the importance of strengthening the international campaign and sustaining pressure on Moroccan occupation authorities to secure their release. The meeting condemned the daily situation of detention and torture faced by Sahrawi prisoners.
The talks concluded with the adoption of a joint action plan to advance these goals and programs.
