New York (United States), October 5, 2026 (SPS) - The representative of the Polisario Front to the United Nations, Coordinator with MINURSO, member of the National Secretariat, Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar, reaffirmed the Polisario Front's categorical rejection of engaging in any discussion on "half-solutions" aimed at circumventing the Sahrawi people's inalienable right to self-determination and independence.

In an interview Sunday with Sahrawi TV, Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar reviewed the latest developments regarding the Western Sahara issue and the UN process aimed at reaching a final, just solution that enables the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination and independence. He emphasized the Polisario Front's refusal to enter into any discussion intended to prejudice our people's right to self-determination, which is guaranteed by international charters.

In response to a question regarding the draft report of the UN Secretary-General, Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar clarified that the report is an informal draft, noting that the Security Council will hold its first session on Thursday to hear briefings from both the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Western Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, on the UN process, and the Special Representative, Mr. Alexander Ivanko, on field developments related to the MINURSO mission.

In this context, the Sahrawi official stressed that the Polisario Front will only discuss measures that enable the Sahrawi people to freely determine their own destiny, reiterating that the Sahrawi people are prepared to make sacrifices to defend and preserve their sacred, non-negotiable rights.

The Polisario Front's UN representative and MINURSO coordinator drew attention to the fact that the Sahrawi cause is passing through a phase full of challenges, stressing the necessity of unifying efforts and closing ranks to forge ahead toward achieving the desired goal: national independence and the restoration of sovereignty over the entire territory of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).
