Shaheed El Hafed, September 23, 2026 (SPS) – Minister of Occupied Territories and Sahrawi Diaspora Affairs Mohamed Mami Al-Tamk affirmed that the Moroccan elections held in the occupied part of Western Sahara are not new, noting that they have been repeatedly staged, and that the Moroccan occupation is fully aware that they do not and will not affect the will of the Sahrawi people.
In an interview with Algerian Radio Channel on the Moroccan occupation regime’s insistence on including the occupied Sahrawi cities in its elections, the Minister said that “the theater of Moroccan elections in the occupied part of Western Sahara is nothing new. The Moroccan occupation is fully aware that it will not affect the will of the Sahrawi people, who for more than fifty years have offered long lines of martyrs and made enormous sacrifices in pursuit of their dignity, freedom and independence.”
He added that “it will certainly not bring about any change in the equation of the conflict in Western Sahara, as long as there is a legitimate right and a people who refuse to compromise on it.”
He further stated that “the Moroccan occupation’s desperate attempts are repeatedly confronted by the Sahrawi people’s steadfast determination to achieve freedom and independence.”
The Sahrawi official stressed that the siege imposed on the occupied territories of Western Sahara contributes to concealing the crimes committed daily there by the Moroccan occupation against unarmed Sahrawi civilians.
Responding to the media promotion of the elections, the Sahrawi official said that “what the Moroccan occupation and its Makhzen regime promote through their propaganda outlets has no connection whatsoever with the reality on the ground.”
