Chahid El Hafed, 17 September 2026 (SPS) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement today, Thursday, affirming the Sahrawi people’s right to sovereignty over their homeland and their determination to defend their rights.

In a statement issued yesterday, Wednesday, 16 September 2026, in New York, the United States, Israel, and Morocco, the occupying state, reiterated their hostile and illegal positions regarding Western Sahara. This constitutes a flagrant violation of the resolutions and rulings of regional and international organizations and courts, all of which recognize the Sahrawi people’s inalienable and imprescriptible right to self-determination and independence.
The Frente POLISARIO and the Government of the Sahrawi Republic reaffirm the Sahrawi people’s steadfast commitment to sovereignty over their homeland and to their legitimate right to self-defense against foreign aggression and occupation, against the policy of annexing territories by force and altering internationally recognized borders, and against the grave human rights violations perpetrated by Morocco, theoccupying state, against the Sahrawi people.
The content of the aforementioned statement constitutes an attempt to obstruct the ongoing UN-led efforts to find a just, peaceful, and consensual solution based on relevant international legality resolutions concerning the Sahara Question.
The Frente POLISARIO and the Government of the Sahrawi Republic call urgently upon the United Nations and the African Union, as the sponsors and guarantors of the 1991 agreement concluded between the Frente POLISARIO and Morocco, the occupying state, to assume their responsibilities and take urgent action to confront this expansionist and aggressive approach, which disregards the most basic principles of international law and legitimacy. They call upon these bodies to uphold the provisions of their own charters and resolutions, which recognize no Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara and which have, since 1963, classified the Sahrawi Question as an issue of decolonization that cannot be resolved without the Sahrawi people exercising their right to self-determination.
The Frente POLISARIO and the Government of the Sahrawi Republic firmly believe that the diplomacy of illicit deals and aggressive alliances is merely a passing, transient phenomenon; it cannot alter the facts or the rules of international law that humanity has established over decades to govern its relations in a rational, peaceful, and civilized manner.
The policy of illicit deals and aggressive alliances fosters neither peace nor development, nor does it contribute to finding just and sound solutions; rather, it serves only to generate further tension and conflict, pushing the region—and the world—toward an uncertain future.
