Paris, 14 September 2026 (SPS) – The Sahrawi community in the Paris region, together with the French Association of Friends of the Sahrawi Republic, recorded an active presence in the various activities of the 91st edition of the Humanity Festival, held in Paris on 11, 12 and 13 September.
Through numerous political, cultural, and solidarity initiatives, the Sahrawi community and its friends took advantage of this important event to further raise awareness of the Sahrawi cause, defend the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination, and inform French and international audiences about the situation in Western Sahara.
A Sahrawi delegation took part in the official opening ceremony of the Humanity Festival, as well as in activities organized at the stands of various federations of the French Communist Party.
A petition addressed to the President of the French Republic was made available for signature, calling on France to review its position on Western Sahara, respect international law, and support the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination and independence.
On the occasion, attention was drawn to the situation of Sahrawi human rights defenders and Sahrawi political prisoners held in the prisons of the occupying power, as well as to the need to ensure access to Western Sahara for journalists, international observers, and human rights organizations.
Through this active participation in the Humanity Festival, the Sahrawi community in the Paris region renewed its determination to continue its awareness-raising and solidarity efforts with the Sahrawi people and to defend their inalienable right to self-determination and independence.
