Shaheed El Hafed, August 30, 2026 (SPS) – President of the National Council, member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, Mr. Bachir Mustafa Sayed, sent two messages of condolence and sympathy to the President of the Algerian Council of the Nation, Mr. Azouz Nasri, and the President of the Algerian People’s National Assembly, Dr. Khalida Boufedche, following the tragic loss of life caused by forest fires that swept through several provinces of brotherly Algeria.
In the two messages, the President of the National Council expressed his profound sadness and deep sorrow over the victims and the losses of life and property caused by the fires. He extended his heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the families and relatives of the victims, to the members of both chambers of the Algerian Parliament, and to the Algerian people as a whole.
Mr. Bachir Mustafa Sayed affirmed that the Sahrawi people stand alongside their Algerian brothers and sisters in this painful ordeal, stressing that any misfortune affecting Algeria also affects and pains the Sahrawi people, given the bonds of brotherhood, shared history and common destiny that unite the two peoples, as well as their deeply rooted ties of solidarity and mutual support spanning decades.
The President of the Sahrawi National Council also commended the efforts being made by the Algerian authorities, civil protection personnel, the People’s National Army, volunteers, and all those involved in confronting the fires, protecting lives and property, and mitigating the impact of this disaster.
Mr. Bachir Mustafa Sayed concluded his condolences by affirming that Algeria is not alone in facing this tragedy and that the Sahrawi people will continue to stand by the Algerian people, remaining faithful to the duty of brotherhood, solidarity, and support in good times and in adversity.
