Shaheed El Hafed, July 13, 2026 (SPS) – The Political and Administrative Unit in Shaheed El Hafed organized a solidarity forum on Monday in support of Sahrawi political prisoner Naâma Asfari.
The event was attended by Prime Minister Bouchraya Hamoudi Bayoun, Minister for the Occupied Territories and Diaspora Mohamed El Mami Tamek, as well as members of the Government, the Sahrawi National Council, and national human rights organizations.
The forum featured the reading of a chronology of the civilian prisoner's life and his long journey of steadfastness inside Moroccan occupation prisons, tracing his experience from the moment of his arrest through his daily life in detention, the hardships he has endured, and the deterioration of his health since launching his open-ended hunger strike and its consequences
Participants also reviewed the national and international efforts undertaken to draw attention to Asfari's health condition, which has entered a critical stage after more than a month of continuous hunger strike.
Speakers stressed that the current phase of the hunger strike requires intensified action by human rights and legal organizations at both the national and international levels, given the grave threat it poses to the prisoner's life.
The solidarity forum included a demonstration in front of the club building at the Ministry of Culture, where participants chanted national and Intifada slogans and raised photographs of Sahrawi political prisoners.
At the conclusion of the event, the Political and Administrative Unit in Shaheed El Hafed read a solidarity statement condemning the Moroccan occupation's policies toward Sahrawi political prisoners and denouncing the violations committed against Naâma Asfari, as well as the authorities' disregard for his deteriorating health, which now threatens his life.
The statement held the Moroccan occupation authorities fully responsible for the consequences of ignoring Asfari's health condition and failing to respond to his legitimate demands.
