Minister of Education and Vocational Training reviews development of Sahrawi education system before National Council

Shaheed El Hafed, June 22, 2026 (SPS) – The Minister of Education and Vocational Training, member of the National Secretariat, Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar, stressed on Monday at the headquarters of the National Council that the development of the education sector is a shared responsibility requiring the combined efforts of all stakeholders, as it is a vital sector closely linked to human development and the future of Sahrawi society.

The minister made these remarks during a lecture delivered as part of the National Council’s Spring Session. At the outset, he commended the presentation made by the member of the National Secretariat, President of the National Council, Mr. Bachir Mustapha Sayed, as well as the Council’s continued interest in the education sector and its role in socialization and nation-building.

The minister provided a comprehensive overview of the evolution of the Sahrawi education system, highlighting the accumulated experience of the sector and the efforts undertaken to improve education despite the circumstances and challenges arising from the specific situation of the Sahrawi context.

He presented an assessment of the achievements made in the fields of education and vocational training, emphasizing progress in expanding educational services, improving educational performance, and strengthening human resource capacities.

This lecture forms part of a series of educational and intellectual seminars scheduled during the National Council’s Spring Session, aimed at promoting discussion on key sectors and encouraging the exchange of expertise and knowledge in support of the development of national institutions and society.
