Ljubljana (Slovenia), May 18, 2026 (SPS) – Sahrawi human rights defender, president of the Sahrawi Body Against the Moroccan Occupation (ISACOM), Aminatou Haidar, arrived on Sunday evening in the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana, to take part in a series of activities aimed at raising awareness about the Sahrawi cause and the situation of Moroccan human rights violations in the occupied areas of Western Sahara.
Ms. Haidar is scheduled to hold several meetings and discussions with civil society actors in the country, with particular focus on the human rights situation in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, the latest developments regarding the human rights, as well as the impact of the stalled UN peace efforts on Sahrawi citizens and their rights.
Accompanying Ms. Haidar during this visit are the Polisario Front representative in Slovenia, Hamdi Omar, and the Polisario Front’s representative in Sweden and Norway, Sennia El Bashir. She will also be accompanied by a group of Slovenian supporters who are members of the Slovenian Committee for Solidarity with the Sahrawi People.
