Opening of training course for Sahrawi Military Office for Monitoring Compliance with International Humanitarian Law

Shaheed El Hafed, May 17, 2026 (SPS) – A training course for the Sahrawi Military Office for Monitoring Compliance with International Humanitarian Law was inaugurated on Sunday at the headquarters of the Sahrawi Mine Action Coordination Office, in the presence of the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sahrawi People's Liberation Army, Taleb Ami Deih, and members of the delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Taleb Ami Deih welcomed the delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross for contributing to this training course for Sahrawi executives, praising the good conduct of the Sahrawi army, its respect for international laws in this field, and its humane treatment of prisoners during wartime conditions.

The training course aims to deliver lectures over two days on international humanitarian law, including its historical origins, the principles governing military operations under international law, and the commander’s responsibility in ensuring respect for the law. It also provides an overview of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
