Sahrawi Republic takes part in African Investment and Trade Forum

Algiers, May 9, 2026 (SPS) – The Sahrawi Republic is participating in the African Investment and Trade Forum, held in Algiers on May 9–10, 2026, under the slogan “Together, We Open Markets,” with an important delegation led by the Minister of Trade, Salek Laabid Bara, accompanied by National Secretariat member, Ambassador to Algeria, Khatri Addouh.

The forum witnessed the presence of prominent African political, economic, and diplomatic figures, including former President of the Republic of Niger, Mahamadou Issoufou, and the President of the African Trade and Investment Forum, Amine Boutalbi, in addition to several participating delegations and economic bodies.

Participants’ interventions focused on the importance of the insurance and financial sectors in supporting the economic transformations taking place across the continent, stressing that the success of the African Continental Free Trade Area represents a key step toward achieving African economic sovereignty.

The sessions also discussed ways to develop local manufacturing and strengthen African value chains by reducing dependence on raw material exports and moving toward building a more integrated and competitive continental industrial base.
