Shaheed El Hafed, May 3, 2026 (SPS) – The Chairwoman of the Human Rights Committee of the Italian Parliament will begin on Monday a working and solidarity visit to the Sahrawi refugee camps and institutions of the Sahrawi state, in order to gain deeper insight into how these institutions operate and to hear the latest developments regarding the Sahrawi cause.
During the visit, the Italian parliamentarian will observe the functioning of various institutions through field visits to several bodies, including the National Human Rights Commission, the Association of Families of Sahrawi Prisoners and the Disappeared, as well as regional facilities in the wilaya of Boujdour.
She will also hold meetings with Sahrawi officials, including the President of the National Council, the Minister of the Occupied Territories and Diaspora, the Minister of Social Affairs and Women’s Promotion, and the President of the Sahrawi Red Crescent.
