Madrid (Spain), April 23, 2026 (SPS) – The Polisario Front’s representative in Madrid, Mr. Khalil Mohamed Abdelaziz, was received at the headquarters of Coslada City Hall by the city’s mayor, Mr. Ángel Viveros, accompanied by Councillor for Cooperation, Ms. Elena Liberato.
The meeting, which comes as part of a series of engagements conducted by the Sahrawi diplomat with municipalities across Madrid, provided an opportunity to reaffirm the city’s support and solidarity with the Sahrawi people and their just cause.
Discussions also focused on ways to strengthen cooperation, particularly projects aimed at supporting Sahrawi refugee camps, as well as exploring prospects for developing the twinning agreement with the Daira of Mijek in the wilaya of Awsard.
The meeting further addressed the “Holidays in Peace” program and ways to enhance support for host families, especially in light of declining humanitarian aid due to current international circumstances.
Coslada is known for its longstanding solidarity with the Sahrawi cause. Ms. Liberato emphasized that “this meeting renews the city’s commitment and opens the door to closer and more direct cooperation with the Daira of Mijek.”
