Shaheed El Hafed, April 11, 2026 (SPS) – The Bureau of the National Council held a meeting today, Saturday, chaired by the member of the National Secretariat, President of the National Council, Mr. Bachir Mustapha Sayed.
The meeting was devoted to setting the date for the opening of the spring session and reviewing the draft laws submitted for the session. The Bureau decided that the spring session will begin on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.
The President of the National Council stressed the need to appropriately schedule the start of the session, allowing the government sufficient time to submit draft laws, as well as giving members of the National Council adequate time to present their legislative proposals, in accordance with the organic law governing the Council’s work and the functional relationship between the National Council and the government.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the National Council, Mr. Saleh Ibrahim Saleh, discussed the proposed amendments to laws received by the General Secretariat and submitted for the spring session:
- A proposed amendment to the organic law on elections.
- A proposed amendment to the organic law governing the relationship between the National Council and the government.
- A proposed amendment to the internal regulations of the National Council.
- A proposed law related to the oversight of private commercial activities.
The meeting also addressed ways to enhance parliamentary diplomacy and activate parliamentary friendship and brotherhood committees as a means to promote awareness of the national cause across various international arenas.
