Wilaya of Auserd, April 8, 2026 (SPS) – The President of the United Republic of Tanzania and Chairperson of Chama Cha Mapinduzi, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, has renewed her country’s firm commitment to solidarity with the Sahrawi people.
This reaffirmation came in an official message delivered on her behalf during the commemoration held today, Wednesday, at the wilaya of Auserd, where she was represented by the Secretary-General of Chama Cha Mapinduzi, Asha-Rose Migiro.
In her message, the Tanzanian President congratulated the Government and people of the Sahrawi Republic, as well as the Polisario Front, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic, praising their resilience and perseverance in their pursuit of self-determination.
Tanzania reaffirmed its principled support for peaceful efforts aimed at achieving a just, lasting, and mutually acceptable solution in accordance with international law, as well as United Nations and African Union resolutions. She also emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy as essential pathways toward sustainable peace.
The message further noted that the aspirations of the African continent, as outlined in the African Union’s Agenda 2063, “The Africa We Want,” call for the completion of the decolonization process across the continent, while promoting the values of unity and cooperation.
The President also highlighted the deep-rooted historical relations between Chama Cha Mapinduzi and the Polisario Front, reaffirming Tanzania’s continued support for liberation movements and peoples striving for freedom, dignity, and justice.
The message concluded by underscoring Tanzania’s commitment to continuing its role in promoting peace, unity, and international cooperation, in line with its longstanding history of supporting African liberation and continental solidarity.
