Shaheed El-Hafed, 28 March 2026 (SPS) – The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, oversaw Saturday the installation of the member of the National Secretariat, Mr. Bashir Mustafa Sayed, as President of the National Council, succeeding the member of the National Secretariat, Mr. Hamma Salama, who was appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Sahrawi People’s Liberation Army.
The installation process comes in application of the provisions of the Constitution of the Sahrawi Republic to address the vacancy resulting from the President of the Republic’s recent reshuffle, which affected the position of President of the National Council.
During the installation, the President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, emphasized in his speech the importance of this constitutional body, which requires it to continue its efforts within the framework of its assigned duties and to work with the other bodies and institutions of the Sahrawi state in a complementary manner.
