Ministry of Water and Environment organizes open day highlighting its role in providing basic services to citizens

Awsard Wilaya, March 6, 2026 (SPS) – The member of the National Secretariat, Minister of Water and Environment, Adda Ibrahim Ahmeim, on Friday supervised the activities of an open day dedicated to the Ministry of Water and Environment as part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Republic, held in the wilaya of Awsard.

The event was attended by the member of the National Secretariat, Prime Minister, Buchraya Hammoudi Bayoun, along with members of the National Secretariat and the government, as well as representatives of the Public Services Committee of the National Council, members of the regional office of the National Council, provincial authorities, and executives and workers of the supervising ministry.

In his speech, the member of the National Secretariat, Minister of Water and Environment, Adda Ibrahim Ahmeim, stated that the ministry’s commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Republic represents a moment of reflection and an opportunity to recall the significant role played by the water and environment sector in providing daily services to citizens over the 50 years since the proclamation of the Sahrawi Republic.

The minister also addressed the difficulties facing the sector amid the reduction of humanitarian aid and stressed the importance of collective cooperation to overcome these challenges.

At the end of the event, the member of the National Secretariat, Prime Minister, Buchraya Hammoudi Bayoun, reviewed the efforts of the Sahrawi state to ensure basic services, particularly water and environmental services, praising the ministry’s work and its year-round efforts to meet citizens’ needs and oversee the implementation of programs.
