Ivry-sur-Seine (France), 1 March, 2026 (SPS) – The General Assembly of the French Association of Friends of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (AARASD) renewed its leadership bodies and reviewed a particularly active year of solidarity efforts in 2025.

The meeting was held in Ivry-sur-Seine, in the Paris region, at the headquarters of the regional AARASD94 section, in the presence of local elected officials, members, activists, and friends of the Sahrawi cause.

The date chosen for this General Assembly carried strong symbolic significance, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic as well as the 50th anniversary of the founding of AARASD. This dual commemoration reflects the depth of a long-standing shared commitment in solidarity with the Sahrawi people.

Mohamed Ali Zerouali, representative of the Polisario Front in France, delivered a presentation on the evolution of the conflict and the latest political and diplomatic developments, highlighting current challenges and prospects for solidarity action. On behalf of the Sahrawi people and the Polisario Front, he expressed gratitude to the association for its consistent commitment and support for the struggle for freedom and self-determination.

The association’s president, Régine Villemont, reaffirmed the organization’s determination to continue and strengthen its action in 2026, consolidating the presence of the Sahrawi cause within French and European political and civil spheres, in continuity with its long history of activism.
