Algiers, 10 February 2026 (SPS) – At the ministry’s headquarters, the member of the National Secretariat, Minister of Water and Environment, received a delegation from the European Commission, within the framework of strengthening cooperation and partnership relations in the fields of water and environment.
During the meeting, the minister reviewed the general situation of the sector, highlighting the main challenges it faces, particularly the scarcity of resources, financing difficulties, and the need to improve water supply services in a way that meets citizens’ needs.
The minister stressed the importance of strengthening joint coordination among all partners and intensifying efforts to overcome the recorded difficulties, calling for the adoption of approaches that respond to the sector’s urgent priorities.
For its part, the delegation of the European Commission expressed its readiness to continue supporting relevant programs and projects, praising the level of existing cooperation and reaffirming its commitment to accompanying the ministry’s efforts aimed at improving services.
This meeting comes within the context of the periodic consultations conducted by the ministry with its partners, with the aim of developing mechanisms for joint action in the field of water and environment.
