Algiers, 6 February 2026 (SPS) – Khattari Adouh, member of the National Secretariat, Ambassador to Algeria, attended the opening ceremony of the 13th Congress of the National Union of Algerian Women, during which Ms. Halima Lakhal was endorsed as the new Secretary General of the Union, succeeding Ms. Nouria Hafsi.
The opening session of the congress was attended by national figures, party leaders, representatives of civil society, as well as members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Algeria.
The congress approved the Union’s program of action and elected a new national bureau.
In its final communiqué, the National Union of Algerian Women affirmed the unity of Algerian women around state institutions and their support for the efforts undertaken by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to consolidate Algeria’s position across various fields and to strengthen its regional and international presence.
