Dili (Timor-Leste), 6 November 2025 (SPS) - The President of Timor-Leste and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, H.E. Dr. Jose Ramos-Horta received in Audience Wednesday in Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace the Saharawi Republic (SADR) Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Mr. Abba Malainin who delivered a letter addressed from the President of the Saharawi Republic and Secretary General of POLISARIO Front, H.E. Mr. Brahim Ghali to the President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste H.E. Dr. Jose Ramos-Horta.
The Saharawi Ambassador, on behalf of the Saharawi President, H.E. Mr. Brahim Ghali, the Saharawi Government and the Saharawi people expressed to East Timorese President the heartfelt warm congratulations for the recent historical admission of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which has been always strategical objective of Timor-Leste. This milestone is a great achievement for the regional integration that for sure will reflect positively on the economic development and other aspects in Timor-Leste.
The Saharawi Diplomat also briefed Timor-Lestes President about the latest developments related to Western Sahara, especially the latest UN SC Resolution N.2797 adopted on 31 October 2025 about Western Sahara.
The Saharawi Ambassador to Timor-Leste seized this opportunity also to convey to the President, H.E. Dr. Jose Ramos-Horta the Gratitude and the appreciation of the Saharawi President, the Saharawi Government and the Saharawi People for the solidarity and constant firm support of Timor-Leste to the struggle of the people of the Saharawi Republic to exercise freely their right to Self-determination and full sovereignty over the Saharawi Republic.
