Algeria reiterates its support for Sahrawi people's right to self-determination and independence

Moscow (Russia), 3 November 2025 (SPS) – The Ambassador of Algeria to the Russian Federation, Mr. Toufik Djouama, reaffirmed in his speech during the events commemorating the 71st anniversary of Algeria’s glorious November 1 Revolution, his country’s steadfast position in support of the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination and independence, in line with international legitimacy and the Charter of the United Nations.

The Algerian ambassador said, "based on the same conviction that inspired the November 1 Revolution, Algeria reaffirms that the United Nations must fully assume its responsibilities with regard to the Sahrawi issue, by enabling the people of Western Sahara to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination."

The Algerian diplomat pointed out that the situation in the territory of Western Sahara, the last colony in Africa, remains an issue of decolonization under international law and the United Nations, affirming that Algeria will continue its constant support for justice and freedom in Africa and the world.

In a related context, Ambassador Djouama also reaffirmed his country's support for the Palestinian cause.
