Ethiopian Minister of Labor and Skills receives Sahrawi Minister of Education and fellow African counterparts participating in Africa Skills Week in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), October 15, 2025 (SPS) – The Ethiopian Minister of Labor and Skills, Mrs. Muferihat Kamil, received on Tuesday afternoon the Sahrawi Minister of Education, Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar, member of the National Secretariat, along with African education ministers participating in Africa Skills Week, at the ministry’s headquarters in Addis Ababa. The meeting was held as part of a welcome reception for their participation in the event, which is taking place from October 13 to 17.

During the visit, Minister Muferihat Kamil accompanied her counterparts on a field tour of key facilities under her ministry. The ministers also attended presentations on how the ministry collects and analyzes data related to the Ethiopian labor market, including the tracking of graduates, youth, and skilled professionals to help them find employment or investment opportunities that match their qualifications.

The ministers held a discussion session at the ministry’s headquarters, exchanging views on various issues related to education, vocational, and technical training. The visiting ministers expressed their admiration for Ethiopia’s innovative approaches in managing and promoting vocational education and training.

In the evening, the Ethiopian minister hosted her guests at a cultural dinner in one of Addis Ababa’s renowned cultural restaurants, where the African ministers had the opportunity to experience Ethiopian culture and art in its various forms.

The Sahrawi Minister of Education is taking part in the Africa Skills Week 2025 activities, held under the theme “Powering Africa’s Industrial Future: Skills for Innovation, Growth, and Sustainability.” He is accompanied by Ambassador Ma El Ainin Lakhal, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Sahrawi Republic to the African Union, and Mr. Hamdi Did, Advisor at the Ministry of Education in charge of AU Affairs.
