Shaheed El-Hafed, September 21, 2025 (SPS) - The Personal Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Western Sahara, Mr. Staffan de Mistura, met today, Sunday, with representatives of Sahrawi youth at the guesthouse in Shaheed El-Hafed.
During the meeting, a group of Sahrawi youth addressed the international community's political, legal, and humanitarian responsibilities, particularly in light of the state of war and its repercussions that Western Sahara has been experiencing since November 13, 2020, and the Moroccan occupation’s persistence in committing war crimes against unarmed Sahrawi civilians.
In this context, the discussion opened for attendees to frankly express their hopes, aspirations, and views on the nature of the conflict. The interventions emphasized the demand of the Sahrawi people and their legitimate right to self-determination and the attainment of freedom and independence.
The representatives of Sahrawi youth affirmed to the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy, Staffan de Mistura, the Sahrawi people’s adherence to their legitimate rights to freedom and independence, and their determination to move forward in achieving their national goals to complete the sovereignty of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.
