Montevideo (Uruguay), September 2, 2025 (SPS) - The President of the Republic of Uruguay, H.E. Yamandú Orsi, received the envoy of H.E. Brahim Ghali, President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, Minister of State in charge of Diplomatic Affairs, who conveyed a written message from his Sahrawi counterpart.
The meeting addressed the regional and international situation, as well as issues of mutual interest.
It is worth noting that the Sahrawi Republic and the Republic of Uruguay have maintained diplomatic relations for 20 years.
President Brahim Ghali had previously attended President Orsi’s inauguration ceremony following his victory in the presidential elections on March 1, 2025.
The meeting, which took place at the Presidential Palace in the capital, Montevideo, was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mario Lubetkin, and the Sahrawi Ambassador, Chibani Abbas.
