Kénitra (Morocco), August 26, 2025 (SPS) - The Sahrawi civilian prisoner from the Gdeim Izik group, Abdallah El-Wali Lakhfaouni, held in the central prison of Kénitra, north of Rabat, the capital of Morocco, will begin a 48-hour warning hunger strike on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 26 and 27, 2025. This protest denounces the punitive measures taken by the administration of the central prison.

According to the Association for the Protection of Sahrawi Prisoners, the warning hunger strike is in protest of the decision issued against him by the administration of the central prison in Kénitra. This decision involves a one-week ban on telephone communication as a punitive measure, without providing the real reasons for this unjustified prohibition.

The punitive and illegal measures taken against him are fundamentally linked to a policy of racial discrimination and the cruel and degrading treatment he faces within the prison. These actions are based on political considerations related to his defense of the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination and independence.
