Boumerdès, August 7, 2025 (SPS) – Mr. Karim Khelfane, President of Algeria’s Independent National Electoral Authority (ANIE), reiterated his support for the just Sahrawi cause and the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination and independence.
His remarks came during a lecture delivered on Thursday as part of the Summer University for executives of the Polisario Front and the Sahrawi State. In his address, he discussed Algeria’s electoral process and the legal frameworks governing it.
He noted that the Sahrawi people’s adoption of an electoral system reinforces institutional development, advancing the goals of establishing an independent Sahrawi state and strengthening their right to self-determination and independence.
He praised the Sahrawi experience in enacting electoral laws and overseeing various electoral processes, which reflects the model of a Sahrawi state that its people aspire to achieve.
Mr. Khelfane was received by Mr. Mrabih El-Mamy, member of the National Secretariat in charge of the Political Organization Secretariat and head of the Summer University, who thanked him for his participation and commended Algeria’s principled stance in supporting just causes, particularly those of the Sahrawi and Palestinian peoples.
