South Africa, July 21, 2025 (SPS) – The proceedings of the African Parliament session commenced Monday morning in Midrand, South Africa, under the theme of the African Union’s 2025 agenda: "Justice for Africans and People of African Descent Through Reparations."

A Sahrawi delegation, led by Mr. Hamma Salama, member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, President of the National Council (Parliament), attended as the guest of honor at the Fifth Ordinary Session of the Sixth Parliament of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP), which will continue from July 21 to August 1, 2025.

Mr. Hamma Salama, President of the National Council of the Sahrawi Republic, was given the floor to deliver a statement during the opening session of the Sixth Parliament’s fifth session.

His participation in continental platforms such as the Pan-African Parliament reflects the African Union’s recognition of the Sahrawi Republic as a member state and reaffirms the AU’s commitment to decolonization and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.

The collaboration between the Sahrawi National Council and the Pan-African Parliament strengthens the principles of inclusive representation, sovereignty, and African solidarity—core tenets of the African Union’s vision under Agenda 2063.
