Vitry-sur-Seine, July 21, 2025 (SPS) – The city of Vitry-sur-Seine organized, as it does every summer, an official reception in honor of Sahrawi and Palestinian children hosted in the municipality.
The event took place in the presence of Mayor Pierre Bell-Lloch, several municipal councilors, and numerous institutional and community representatives.
For many years, Vitry-sur-Seine has demonstrated unwavering support for the Sahrawi and Palestinian causes. Every summer, two groups of children from Sahrawi refugee camps and Palestinian territories are welcomed into local families, in partnership with the organizations Ensemble pour l’avenir (Together for the Future) and Vitry94Palestine.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Abdelssamed Nouri, Deputy Consul of Algeria in Créteil; Mr. Adel Abdellaoui, President of Ensemble pour l’avenir; Mr. Yasser Ayoub, Head of International Relations at the Embassy of Palestine in France; Ms. Sonia Gueninela, President of Vitry94Palestine; host families and volunteers; as well as Mr. Mohamed Ali Zerouali, Representative of the Polisario Front in France.
In his welcoming speech, Mr. Pierre Bell-Lloch reaffirmed Vitry-sur-Seine’s strong commitment to the liberation struggles of the Sahrawi and Palestinian people, praising the remarkable dedication of host families and volunteers:
Mr. Abdelssamed Nouri, for his part, highlighted Algeria’s steadfast and unconditional support for the Sahrawi and Palestinian peoples in their legitimate fight for self-determination and independence:
Mr. Mohamed Ali Zerouali warmly thanked the municipality, the organizations, and the host families for their unwavering loyalty to the Sahrawi cause. He praised the warm welcome given to the children, whom he called "little ambassadors of peace," and emphasized the symbolic, humanitarian, and political significance of this initiative.
Mr. Yasser Ayoub, representing the Palestinian Embassy, also commended the city’s efforts and strongly condemned the ongoing genocide in Gaza, stressing that international solidarity is now more crucial than ever.
Finally, representatives from the two partner organizations, Ensemble pour l’avenir and Vitry94Palestine, reaffirmed their determination to continue these concrete acts of solidarity despite challenges, keeping alive the memory and hope of the Sahrawi and Palestinian peoples.
