Bir Lehlou (Liberated Territories), July 19, 2025 (WAS) – The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, sent a congratulatory message to his counterpart, President Gustavo Francisco Petro Urrego of the Republic of Colombia, on the occasion of Colombia's Independence Day.
In his message, President Ghali said, "On behalf of the government and people of the Sahrawi Republic, and in my own name, I extend to Your Excellency, the government, and the brotherly people of Colombia our sincerest congratulations on the 215th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Colombia."
He added, "This year marks the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Sahrawi Republic and the Republic of Colombia. I would like to reaffirm our desire to continue strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between our two nations."
President Ghali also noted, "The Republic of Colombia stands as a beacon in the struggle of peoples for freedom and self-determination. In recent years, it has steadfastly supported the Sahrawi people’s struggle for independence."
