Wilaya of Auserd, May 31, 2025 (SPS) – The General Union of Workers of Saguia El Hamra and Rio de Oro (UGTSARIO) oversaw Saturday the commemoration of the ninth anniversary of the passing of the Martyr President Mohamed Abdelaziz and the 20th anniversary of the Independence Uprising.
The event was attended by the President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali; the Head of the Political Organization Secretariat, Mr. Mrabih Al Mami Dai; the Prime Minister, Mr. Bouchraya Hammoudi Beyoun; members of the National Secretariat, the government, the General Staff of the Army; senior officials from the state and the Front; and authorities of the wilaya of Auserd.
The UGTSARIO’s Secretary-General, Mr. Nafei Ahmed Mohamed, stated in his speech that commemorating the martyr Mohamed Abdelaziz is an occasion to reflect on loyalty, martyrdom, and dedication, and to follow the path he and the revolution’s martyrs took to achieve freedom and independence. He praised the late leader’s virtues and his steadfast, sincere leadership of the masses until his passing.
For his part, the Minister of Occupied Territories and Diaspora Affairs, member of the National Secretariat, Mr. Mustafa Mohamed Ali Sid El Bachir, highlighted the qualities of the Martyr President Mohamed Abdelaziz, and discussed the national and international efforts to secure the release of Sahrawi political prisoners in Moroccan jails and support the families of detainees in occupation prisons.
On this occasion, the President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, honored a number of officials from state and Front institutions in recognition of their efforts in managing public affairs.
The event featured artistic performances and a discussion session on the Martyr President Mohamed Abdelaziz, as well as a solidarity stand in support of the national and international campaign for the release of Sahrawi prisoners in Moroccan jails.
