Sweden: Polisario Front guest of honor at 42nd Congress of the Social Democratic Party

Gothenburg (Sweden) 29 May 2025 (SPS) – The Polisario Front was the guest of honor at the 42nd Congress of the Swedish Social Democratic Party, held in Gothenburg from May 28 to June 1, with the participation of high-level international delegations and representatives of partner parties from around the world.

Party President Magdalena Andersson opened the conference with a welcoming speech, in which she expressed her gratitude to the attendees and emphasized the importance of this meeting in light of the rapid developments on the national and international scene. She also emphasized the responsibility of progressive forces in strengthening democracy and confronting current challenges.

As part of the conference program, the international delegations met with Mr. Morgen Johansson, the party's official spokesperson and Vice-Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Swedish Parliament, who provided an overview of the global geopolitical situation, highlighting the conflicts in the Middle East and the war in Ukraine, as well as domestic issues of concern to Swedish and European public opinion.

For his part, during his meeting with the delegations, former Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven expressed the party's deep appreciation for the participation of the international guests, praising the spirit of solidarity that characterizes this event and affirming the party's commitment to its political and social principles.

The conference activities are expected to continue with bilateral meetings with Swedish political figures, in addition to organizing a series of parallel activities dedicated to the international delegations.

The Polisario Front will be represented at this event by Ms. Fatima El Mahdi, member of the Front's National Secretariat and Minister of Cooperation in the Sahrawi government, and Ms. Sania El Bachir, the Front's representative in Sweden and Norway. (SPS)
