Asturias (Spain), May 14, 2025 (SPS) – The Political Affairs Officer of the Polisario Front’s Representation in Spain, Salamu Hamudi, took part in the 16th Congress of UGT Asturias, held on May 13–14 in the city of Avilés. The event served as a space for dialogue, reflection, and reaffirmation of shared principles, during which Javier Fernández Lanero was re-elected as Secretary General of UGT in the Principality of Asturias.
During the Congress, bilateral meetings were held with prominent figures of the Spanish trade union movement, including Javier Fernández Lanero and Pepe Álvarez, the National Secretary General of UGT. In these meetings, UGT reiterated its firm support, solidarity, and commitment to the just cause of the Sahrawi people, as well as its political and humanitarian backing for the Polisario Front, the sole and legitimate representative of the people of Western Sahara.
The Polisario Front’s participation in this Congress strengthens the historic bonds of solidarity between the Asturian labor movement and the Sahrawi people’s struggle for self-determination, freedom, and justice.
