Algiers, 1 May 2025 (SPS) - The Sahrawi Republic’s Ambassador to Algeria, Abdelkader Taleb Omar, stated on Wednesday, in Algiers, that the Moroccan Makhzen regime has failed in its attempts to dissociate the Sahrawi cause from its status as a decolonization issue.

Speaking at the Memory Forum, organized by the daily El Moudjahid and Mechâal Echahid association, on the latest developments in the Sahrawi cause, Taleb Omar pointed to the failure of the makhzen to dissociate the Sahrawi cause from its status as a decolonization issue, emphasizing that “if it was not losing legitimacy, this regime would have resolved the issue in one day by the ballot box.”

Morocco has also failed to obtain an official and definitive recognition of its alleged sovereignty over the occupied Sahrawi territories, he added, ensuring that the position of the United States of America in favor of the Moroccan expansionist plan did not change in any way the legal status of the Sahrawi cause, as it requires a solution accepted by both parties, which invalidates and excludes, ipso facto, the autonomy proposal.

Criticizing the normalization of relations between the Makhzen and the criminal Zionist entity that continues its occupation and genocide against the Palestinian people, the Sahrawi diplomat highlighted the popular rejection to this alliance in Morocco, where marches and demonstrations are held daily to denounce normalization.
