Madrid, 9 August 2024 (SPS) - The Spanish Popular Party has urged the government to create a special fund as soon as possible, dedicated to Sahrawi refugees to help meet their vital needs, according to the news website "Europa Press."
Party deputies have proposed a bill for discussion in the general session. In highlighting the deteriorating living conditions of these refugees, the deputies called on their government to include this proposal in the upcoming state budgets.
According to European Parliament members, responding to the food emergency in the Sahrawi refugee camps "can no longer be delayed."
In light of this situation, which has persisted since 1975, humanitarian actors are facing significant difficulties in maintaining the required level of aid to meet the needs of Sahrawi refugees, amid a decline in humanitarian assistance in a world grappling with multiple crises.
