Brussels (Belgium), April 19, 2024 (SPS) - The left-wing group Podemos in the European Parliament has organized a prominent conference on the future of peace, bringing together a wide range of actors from civil society, including representatives from NGOs, as well as delegates from Palestine and Western Sahara. The event, which saw the remote participation of Podemos' Secretary General, Ivone Belarra, has been a crucial space for the exchange of ideas and the promotion of dialogue.
The presence of media outlets such as TV Almayadine and CanarRed underscores the importance of the event in the context of the upcoming European elections. Over two days, in-depth debates were held, a guided tour of European institutions was organized, and photographs addressing the conflicts in Ukraine, Western Sahara, and Palestine were exhibited.
The Sahrawi delegation, led by Jadiyetu El Mohtar, the Sahrawi representative in the Community of Madrid, along with the MEP and spokesperson for Podemos in the European Parliament, denounced Morocco's interference in the European elections, reaffirming their support for the just causes of the Sahrawi and Palestinian people. They also reiterated their commitment to peace, international legality, and the unconditional respect for human rights, including the right to self-determination and independence of peoples.
