Submitted on

Al-Kunetira (Morocco), 27, April 2022 (SPS) – Several Saharawi political prisoners from the Saharawi student group known as “The Companions of Luali” have announced their entry into a forty-eight hour hunger strike.
According to sources from Saharawi human rights activists, the student activists who have decided to go on a hunger strike are Abdelmula Mohamed Al-Hafed, Bachir Brahim Amadur, Al-Bir Kentawi, Aziz Al-Wahidi and Mohamed Dadda.
With this new hunger strike, the Saharawi students and political prisoners intend to denounce the repression suffered by Saharawi civilians in all the occupied areas of Western Sahara, as well as to demonstrate their solidarity with their compatriots Hassan Dah and Al-Husein Zawi, who are on hunger strike since last April 1, 2022, in the Al-Kunetira Central Prison.
This new gesture of protest by the Saharawi activists also seeks to draw attention to the situation of the aforementioned political prisoners, Hassan Dah and Al-Husein Zawi, who completed twenty-five days of indefinite hunger strike, as well as in support of the activists Sahrawis from the occupied city of Bojador who continue to suffer daily torture and abuse at the hands of the Moroccan forces of repression.
