Algiers, 13 May 2024 (SPS) - The National Institute for Global Strategy Studies (INESG) organized Sunday, in Algiers, in collaboration with the Sahrawi Centre for Strategic Studies, a study day entitled “the Sahrawi cause at heart of global consciousness,” on the occasion of the 51st anniversary of the creation of the Polisario Front, emphasizing the fairness of this cause and the Sahrawi people’s commitment to the armed struggle until independence.
In an address made on this occasion, INESG’s Director, Abdelaziz Medjahed, affirmed that this study day aims to raise global awareness about the fairness of the Sahrawi cause and enlighten those who are unaware that it is a decolonization issue.
INESG’s Director recalled the history of the struggle conducted by the Sahrawi people against the Moroccan occupation, calling “the living consciences to join forces in order to end the occupation of Africa’s last colony.”
For his part, the ambassador of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) to Algeria, Abdelkader Taleb Omar, underlined in his communication entitled “Continuing the struggle,” that the celebration of this anniversary mirrors “the union of the Sahrawi people under the banner of the Polisario Front, their commitment to freeing their homeland and their adherence to all the country’s institutions for freedom,” insisting on “the legality of their cause by the force of law in all the international forums.”
The Sahrawi resistance managed, after more than half a century, to uncover the “despicable attempts of the Moroccan occupier to “legalize” the occupation of Western Sahara, pointing out that the Makhzen didn’t hesitate to “infringe all the laws to annex other territories by force, drug trafficking, corruption, spying, and even normalization with the Zionist entity, becoming one of its tentacles in the region.
The objective is to impose its occupation of the territories of Western Sahara.
