Moroccan citizen dies of wounds sustained in protests

 Rabat, June 04, 2011 (SPS) - A member of the February 20 youth movement, a group demanding democratic changes in Morocco, died yesterday in a hospital after suffering injuries during a demonstration on May 29, the organization said in an e-mailed statement.

Khaled al-Amari, 30, died in a hospital after being beaten at a protest in the southern city of Safi on Sunday, part of a weekly series of demonstrations calling for greater freedoms

The family categorically denied their son's death was related to healthy problems. as outhorities said.

The victim’s brother confirmed to AFP that kamal’s death due to violent beating committed by security forces.

On Sunday there were bloody battles on the streets between a youth movement and police .Club-wielding Moroccan police riding motorcycles drove into crowds of thousands of demonstrators in the country's largest city, Casablanca, to disperse a protest by pro-democracy activists Sunday.

European Union expressed concern about brutality using by Moroccan security forces against pro-democracy activists demanding political reforms in Morocco.

Demonstrations began in Morocco on Feb. 20 aimed at reducing the power of the king, curbing corruption and ending police brutality.
