Liberated Tifariti, Nov 3, 2012 (SPS) - Inhabitants of the Saharawi liberated town of Tifariti considered that UN Personal Envoy’s visit will revitalize hopes of the Saharawi people for freedom and independence, taking the opportunity to call for Ross intervention to release all the Saharawi political prisoners inside Moroccan jails.

People of Tifariti began flocking since the early hours of Friday morning to receive the UN Envoy Christopher Ross with cheers and joy.

Tifariti inhabitants urged, in their slogans, Mr. Ross to immediately intervene to release all the Saharawi prisoners of conscious, including those of Gdeim Izik who spent two years of imprisonment without trail, as to stop plundering of Saharawi natural wealth by Morocco.

In statements to the press, the Saharawi masses called for the protection of the Saharawi citizens and to set up a UN mechanism to report and protect human rights in the occupied Western Sahara.

They also called on Ross to assess the situation in which the Saharawi people in the refugee camps and liberated territories live, and to work hard to end this suffering through the exercise by the Saharawis to the right of self-determination. (SPS)
