SADR takes part at African Borders Day’s celebration

Addis Ababa, June 8, 2013 (SPS) - The Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (RASD) participated at the celebrations organized Friday in Addis Ababa by the AU Peace and Security Commission to mark African Day of Borders to assess the progress made on the African Union Border Programme (AUBP), according to a statement of SADR embassy in Ethiopian capital.


AUBP adopted by AU Ministers in charge of Border Issues, among other things, that African borders permanently demarcated by the year 2017.


Borders in Africa constitute a source of constant concern behind many African conflicts. It also represents one of the main goals of the African peace and security programme.


African Union Border Programme comes to push the wheel of Africa’s integration and to avoid disputes through secure, prosperous and open borders.


The meeting was attended, along with African Union, the United Nations Organization and German Government.It was marked by the official launch of AUBP guidebooks and the handover of the border archives by the Federal Republic of Germany.


Saharawi Republic (SADR) was represented at the meeting by its Ambassador in Ethiopia Permanent Representative to the AU Mr. Laman Baali. (SPS)
