President of Republic: we cannot eliminate diseases as wars continue

Abuja (Nigeria)July 15,2013 (SPS) - President of the Republic, General Secretary of the Polisario Front,Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, said on Monday that "as wars  and its consequences, such as the phenomenon of asylum and displacement, continue we cannot eliminate these pests" in reference to serious diseases such as AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, which are the themes of the Special Summit of the African Union, held on July 15 and 16 in Abuja.

 

In his intervention, which came in the open discussion after a private panel discussion on the theme of the summit, President Mohamed Abdelaziz hailed the accomplished progress, especially since Africa is working on the final disposal of these diseases, "at least within the limits of the Year 2030", highlighting that this progress came after "we decided to mobilize our joint energies, and we faced the challenge together, backed by our partners across the world"

 

He also praised the "additional ideas" such as the "establishment of an African Centre for Disease Control and Prevention," after he expressed his thanks to the President and the Government and people of Nigeria and the African Union Commission.

 

The President Mohamed Abdelaziz had arrived Sunday evening to Abuja, accompanied by an Important delegation composed of Mohamed Lamine daddy, Minister of Public Health, Hamdi Abaiha, Minister Delegate in charge of Africa, Laman Abaali, Permanent Representative to the African Union and Ethiopia, Abay Bashraya, Ambassador in Nigeria, Abdati Braika, adviser to the presidency, and Wadad Mustafa, entrusted with task in the Sahrawi embassy in Abuja.
