PCP Central Committee reaffirms solidarity with Saharawi people

Seixal (Portugal), Sept 8, 2013 (SPS) - Member of the Political Commission of the Central Committee of Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) Mr. Carlos Gonçalves has reaffirmed solidarity and commitment to the just cause of the Saharawi people and to defend their legitimate rights before Portuguese and international institutions, during a meeting with the Saharawi delegation attending the 37th PCP Festival, the main political-cultural event in the country, reported Polisario representation in Portugal.


Secretary General, Mr. Jerome SOUSA inaugurated the activities planned for the 37th edition of the “Festa de Avante”, taking place between 6 and 8 September 2013 in Seixal, Portugal.


The Saharawi delegation took part at an act of solidarity with the Saharawi people in the presence of Ms. Ida FIGUEREDO, member of the Council for Peace and Cooperation, Ms. Regina Marquez, member of the Women’s International Democratic Federation (WIDF), and Mr. Carlos Carvalho, member of the Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation.


The delegation is composed of Mr. Ahamed Fal Emhamed, POLISARIO representative to Portugal, and Jadiyetu Mojtar, member of the Saharawi Women Union (UNMS).


The delegation took this occasion to hold meetings and contacts with the delegations of the Workers’ Party of Belgium (Dutch acronym: PTB), Mozambique Liberation Front (Portuguese acronym: FRELIMO) and the Communist Party of Venezuela (Spanish acronym: PCV), in addition to other delegations from Cuba and Italy.


The event expected to wrap out today, Sunday, by an address by the Secretary General Mr. Jerome SOUSA before thousands of  PCP members. (SPS)
