President of Republic consoles family of Frank Ruddy

Shaheed Hafed, May 12, 2014 (SPS) - President of the Republic Secretary General of Polisario Front Mohamed Abdelaziz sent a letter of condolence to the family of U.S. diplomat Frank Ruddy Who died Wednesday due to renal failure.

 

The President of the Republic expressed his condolences to the bereaved family, applauding the position of the deceased in favor of the rights of peoples in all international forums.

 

The American diplomat held several positions in the U.S. and from 1994 to 1995 he chaired the Identification Commission of Sahrawis pending the organization of the referendum on the future of Western Sahara.

 

Frank Ruddy was a staunch defender of the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination. His latest initiative in this direction was the letter sent jointly with former personal envoy to Western Sahara, Peter van Walsum, to French President François Hollande in which they called on France not to use its veto against the enlargement of the mandate of MINURSO to monitor and control the situation of human rights in Western Sahara, it should be recalle.
