President Mohamed Abdelaziz embarks official visit to Tanzania

Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), June 24, 2012 (SPS) - The President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, arrived Sunday in Dar es Salaam, capital of the Federal Republic of Tanzania, in a two-day official visit at the invitatiof his counterpart, the President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete.


President Mohamed Abdelaziz was received at Dar es Salaam international airport by his Tanzanian counterpart, Mr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, accompanied by senior officials.


The President of the Republic is accompanied by important delegation including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, Minister of Defense, Mr. Mohamed Lamin Bouhali, Minister of Employment & Vocational Training, Ms. Khira Balahi, Minister Delegate for Africa, Mr. Brahim Mokhtar Boumakhruta, Responsable of International Relations at the Saharawi National Council, Ms. Maluma Larabas, Counselor to the Presidency, Mr. Abdati Breika, Director of the Presiden's Office, Mr. Mohamed Mulud Mohamed Al-Amin, and Ambassador to Tanzania, Mr. Brahim Salem Bousef.

Saharawi President will hold with his counterpart of Tanzania along with senior officials bilateral talks, which will focus on the latest developments on the national cause, bilateral relations between the two countries and reviewing several important issues of common interest, especially those placed on the table of next summit of the African Union.

It is expected that the two sides to hold formal talks on Monday.


Tanzanian President indicated, in his letter to the President Mohamed Abdelaziz, that this visit “will further strengthen our excellent bilateral relations that so happily exist between our two countries and our peoples,” adding that it will as well be an opportunity two leaders “to exchange ideas on recent developments in the peace process in Western Sahara and will augment our traditional ties that exist between our two political parties, the Polisario Front and Chama cha Mapinduzi.”


The Federal Republic of Tanzania was one of the first African countries to recognize the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic on 9 November 1978. It have been also establishing diplomatic relations with it at the ambassadorial level ever since. (SPS)
