Algeria and USA renew their support for negotiations to resolve the Western Sahara issue

Algeria, 03 February 2023 (SPS) - Algeria and the United States of America have renewed their support for negotiations between the two parties to the conflict in Western Sahara in order to reach a permanent political solution to the Sahrawi issue.
During a meeting between the Secretary-General of the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ammar Blani, and the American Ambassador to Algeria, Mrs. Elizabeth Moore Aubin, the two parties exchanged views on many international and regional issues of common concern, especially the developments of the Sahrawi issue, regarding which Mr. Ammar Blani renewed Algeria's firm position in supporting the legitimate struggle of the Sahrawi people for their right to self-determination.
The two sides also indicated, during an extensive discussion on this issue, the importance of supporting the efforts of the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for the Western Sahara, Mr. Staffan de Mistura, aimed at encouraging the parties to the conflict to revive the course of negotiations aimed at reaching a permanent political solution acceptable to both parties on the basis of the rules of international legitimacy and international law.
