The CEE Alliance for Solidarity with Sahrawi People hails the 16th Congress of the POLISARIO Front

Submitted on

Budapest, January 17, 2022 (SPS)- The Central and Eastern European Alliance for Solidarity with Sahrawi People hailed, in a letter of solidarity, the 16th Congress of the Polisario Front, which bears the name of Martyr Mohammed Khaddad Lehbib, which is held in the Wilaya of Dakhla in the refugee camps from 13 to 17 January 2023, under the motto "Escalating the fight to expel the occupation and complete sovereignty,"
The following is the full text of the letter of solidarity of the CEE Alliance which the 16th Congress of the Polisario Front received:
“The CEE Alliance has always admired the struggle for independence of the Sahrawi people from colonisation and remains strongly committed to the process of peaceful negotiations under the auspices of the United Nations, for holding of a referendum on self-determination of Western Sahara, the last colony in Africa in the search of a viable solution, which has been dragging for more than four and a half decades.
The CEE Alliance is convinced that a genuine and credible peace process could not start and advance in Western Sahara without ending the impunity with which the occupying state of Morocco has been allowed to undermine the United Nations Organization of African Unity settlement plan, obstruct the self-determination referendum and eventually breach the 1991 ceasefire and plunge the region into yet another spiral of violence and instability.
The CEE Alliance strongly condemns the use of force by the Moroccan forces, their crimes against humanity. Morocco must bear the legal and the political consequences.
The CEE Alliance is not surprised at all to learn about Morocco’s involvement in the corruption case engulfing the European Parliament, dubbed as Qatar Gate. Some days ago it was revealed that Morocco had manipulated the European Parliamentary proceedings bribing powerful MEPs.
The CEE Alliance expresses its hope to achieve a peaceful, just and lasting solution to the decolonization of Western Sahara in accordance with the principles of international legality and relevant resolutions of the United Nations and the African Union and based on the mandate for which the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) was established.
The CEE Alliance assures you that it keeps continuing its solidarity activity with the Sahrawi people in its long-overdue process of decolonisation.
Budapest, 15th January 2022.
Matyas Benyik, on behalf of CEE Alliance”
