In 2022, Sahrawi Republic increasingly established, crimes of Moroccan occupation exposed (Sahrawi diplomat)

Algiers, 31 December 2020 (SPS) – In the year 2022, the Sahrawi Republic has increasingly become an indisputable international reality, despite the Moroccan occupation, which practiced all kinds of crimes, including sowing corruption in the European Parliament, to obscure this fact and postpone the right of the Sahrawi people to freedom and independence, affirmed Friday Sahrawi diplomat Malainin Lakhal.
"During 2022, the Sahrawi issue achieved many victories at all levels, as the status of the Sahrawi Republic was further consolidated within the bodies of the African Union, contrary to what Morocco was striving for," the Sahrawi ambassador said in a statement to APS.
In this context, he highlighted that "the Sahrawi Republic imposed its presence at the international level through the active participation of the President of the Republic, the Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, in the international partnership forums of the African Union with its European counterpart, and in the TICAD summit in Tunisia," and the Sahrawi diplomacy - the Sahrawi diplomat adds - has succeeded in restoring relations with a number of countries, especially in Latin America and Africa, after the legal arsenal supporting the Sahrawi cause was reinforced by new judicial rulings from the European Court of Justice and the African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights.
"All this is amid broad international solidarity with the Sahrawi people, after the Sahrawi issue has emerged in several stages as a central issue, which has a strong impact on the political and economic relations between the countries of the region, and European and African countries," he added.
Malainin Lakhal referred to the military victories of the Sahrawi army, and the pressure it exerts daily on the battlefronts on the occupation forces, stressing that "the heavy losses it suffers in lives and equipment is what pushed it to fall further into the arms of the Zionist entity," and that "the indebtedness in which Morocco is drowning today, and the dependence of its decision on international financial bodies, is caused by the costs of the fierce war in Western Sahara."
According to the Sahrawi diplomat, 2022 also constituted "the year of scandals for the Moroccan occupation", recalling that "after the espionage scandal through the Zionist program Pegasus, the world woke up to the Morocco-Gate scandal, in which Morocco sowed corruption in the European Parliament to distort the struggle of the Sahrawi people and deprive it of its right to freedom and independence, by paying bribes to deputies in this parliament," noting that these scandals increased their international isolation and did justice to the legitimacy of the Sahrawi cause.
The ambassador believes that the Sahrawi people, "armed with its strong belief in the justice of its cause, will continue in 2023 its victories that will culminate in independence and the imposition of national sovereignty over the entire occupied Saharawi territory."
