Sahrawi civilian prisoners within Gdeim Izik group subjected to harassment and ill-treatment

Agadir (Morocco) 12 December 2022 (SPS) - The Association for the Protection of Sahrawi Prisoners in Moroccan Prisons reported that the families of Sahrawi civilian prisoners within the Gdeim Izik group in Ait Melloul Prison 2, on the outskirts of the Moroccan city of Agadir, point out their harassment and ill-treatment by prison staff.
In a testimony, the sister of the Sahrawi civil prisoner within the group of Gdeim Izik, Brahim Dedi Ismaili, mentioned that he was subjected to provocation and the disgraceful practices committed by the prison staff, as well as other Sahrawi civilian prisoners within the group of Gdeim Izik.
In this regard, the Sahrawi civilian prisoners, Brahim Dedi Ismaili, Sid Ahmed Faraji Lamjid and Mohamed Ahnini Bani, were prevented from leaving their cells and were provoked by discriminatory measures aimed at harassing them and undermining their dignity.
Since 9 November, the Sahrawi civilian prisoners in Ait Melloul Prison 2 and the other Moroccan prisons have been subjected to ill-treatment and humiliation following the statements made by the so-called General Delegate of the Moroccan Prisons Administration regarding the Gdeim Izik group and the deprivation and denial of their legitimate basic rights.
